Plant morphology: perennial. Creeping rhizomes yellowish, with the majority of fleshy root tip, usually have about 2leaves. Leaves large, thick, egg shape is elliptic, grow 16 ～20cm, width of about 8～ 10cm, apex acute, base cordate; petiole fleshy, grow 14 ～20cm, sparsely pubescent. Flowers large, solitary stems top, a diameter of up to 6cm, purplish brown; flower stalk is long 2- 9 cm; perianth tube short, lobes 3, broadly ovate, ca.3cm, width of 4cm, base with white transverse crease markings; stamens 12. Capsule fleshy, subglobose. Seed conical, apex acuminate, abaxially nearly smooth.
Born in the hillside forest and stream sheltered places. Distributed in Guangdong, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, sichuan.
