Leaves alternate; leaf sheath of up to 4cm, densely tawny slender bristles, mouth has similar hairs; leaf blade elliptic-lanceolate or lanceolate, dilute broadly ovate, length 15-27cm, width 3-6 ( - 8 ) cm, apex acuminate, base attenuate into a winged handle, two sides and a point near the edge and leaves the following main veins in the lower part of the elongated bristles densely tawny. Heads from the sheath near the base at penetrating out, without peduncles, usually with ten flower, the diameter of 2-3cm; bracts ovate, ca. 6mm, apex acute, sparsely eyelashes; sepals 3, separation, narrowly oblong or oblong, apex long 8-12mm, hood shape, hairy; flowers white, membranous, wrap around acicular oblong, ca. 5mm, apex obtuse; stamens 6, total fertility; filaments apex with bead hairy; ovary oblong, with a number of top tuft of stiff coarse wool, style linear, ca. as long as ovary.
