Latin name of plant and animal fossil: Populus davidiana Dode; [P.tremela L.var.davidiana (Dode) Schneid.]
Harvesting and storage: in autumn and winter harvest branches, remove the bark, sawn sections, dry.

[Form of] the original tree. Up to 25cm. Bark smooth; brown or gray, rough black trees at the base; crown round. Branchlets cylindrical, smooth, russet, Sprouting pubescent. Buds ovate or oval, hairless, slightly clayey. In alternate; petiole side of the flat, long 2-6cm; leaves triangular-shaped oval or nearly circular, near-length and width, length 3-6cm, apex obtuse tip, acute or shortly acuminate, base rounded truncate or light heart-shaped, wavy edges shallow teeth, sprouting branches and leaves large, triangular-shaped oval, the following pubescent, rachis with sparse hair, or dense hair; shell sub-piece tan, palmate of crack, the edge of long hair; male sequence length 5-9cm, 5-12 stamens, anthers purple; female inflorescence length 4-7cm; ovary conical, stigma 2 deep cleft, with red. Fruit order up to 12cm; capsule ovate conical, about 5mm, with short-throw, two split. Flowering from March to April, the fruit of April-May.

Environment: Born in 1200-3800m above sea level slopes, ridges and valley areas, often forming pure stands or small area to form mixed with other species.
Resource distribution: distributed in northeast, north, northwest, South, Southwest and Tibet and other places.
