[ ] the original morphology of Yunnan and Guangxi snakeroot, sub shrubs, about 50cm high. Stems erect, branched distally, nearly glabrous, or along the petiole decurrent crest coat. Inflorescences and abaxial surface of leaf blades in reddish purple. Leaves opposite; short petiolate; stipules lanceolate,2 crack; leaf blade elliptic-lanceolate,10-18cm long, apex acuminate, base cuneate, margin entire, sometimes by undercoat, below smooth hairless. Corymb type cymes terminal, with a short stalk, flattened, ca.2.5cm; bracts large, linear, up to 1cm, persistent; calyx puberulent, lobes triangular, blunt; corolla red, tubular, ca.8mm, inside glabrous, lobes shortly carinate; stamens 5, mutual adnate to corolla; disc large; ovary inferior. Capsule yellowish green, puberulent. Florescence in August.
