Medicine medium source: as the birch family plants veins Carpinus root bark.

Harvest and storage: collected in autumn, take root bark, clean, fresh or dried.
[ ] the original morphology of small deciduous trees or shrubs,5-8m. Branchlets early gray pilose, later glabrous, brown purple. Leaves alternate; petiole ca.1cm; leaf blade ovate-lanceolate or elliptic-lanceolate,4-7cm long,2.5-4cm wide, apex acuminate to caudate-acuminate, base obtuse to rounded, sometimes nearly cordate, margin serrate thorn shape, which has 1-2pulseless denticulate, old glabrous; lateral veins15-20. Infructescence long 5-8cm, was sparsely hairy; bracts ovate-lanceolate, long 1-1.5cm, width of 5mm, margin basally straight or slightly curled edge, with fine incised serrate, inside glabrous, outside along the main veins and basally pilose. Nutlets ovoid, slightly compressed, the length and width of nearly equal,2-3mm, sparsely pubescent.
