[ ] the original morphology of Gordonia acuminata evergreen shrub or small tree, up to 8m. Bark grayish white. Leaves alternate; petiole stout,7.5-15mm long; leaf blade thickly leathery, oblanceolate to oblong,6-18cm long,2-6cm wide, apex rounded, sometimes concave, base attenuate, margin entire or shallowly toothed at the top, above the bright green, both surfaces glabrous. The flower is big, white, diameter 7.5-12cm, dilute15cm, solitary or clustered branchlets top; bracteoles and sepals imbricate, leathery, persistent; petals 5-6, broadly obcordate, apex deeply divided; stamens numerous, filaments only basally connate; ovary oblong,5 room, style apex splitting. Capsule oblong,5 prism, grow to 3.5cm. Apex of seed winged.
